DCBD Color Challenge #140

Hello stampers!!!

I am very excited about today as we have a couple of NEW Diva’s on the design team and you will be seeing their beautiful creations on our diva blog so pop on over there and see what they have come up with also for this design.

Today is a color challenge and I don’t honestly know what I was thinking when I picked these colors but this one really took some thinking for me. I haven’t used my Baroque Motifs set in a long, long time so I decided to pull it out and play around with it.

Todays challenge is:DCBD140I hope you have fun placing these colors in your design and will share with us on Mr Linkey on the Diva Blog. Its alot of fun to see what everyone elses take is on the same colors you used.

DCBD140Recipe:

Stamps

  • Baroque Motifs

Ink

  • Orchid Opulance
  • Versamark

Cardstock

  • Regal Rose
  • Orchid Opulance
  • So Saffron
  • Garden Green
  • Shimmery White

Accessories

  • Rich Regal Brads (So saffron)
  • Paper Piercer
  • Punches Three Punch
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Heat Tool
  • Sponge
  • Scallop Oval Punch
  • Large Oval Punch
  • So Saffron Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Dimensionals

For the swirl stamp that is in the middle of the card, I used Versamark and clear embossing powder. I embossed the swirl. Then I took a sponge wedge and inked it with the classic ink Orchid Opulance and whiped over the swirl. This technique is also done with pastels and is known as Popping Pastels. I just used ink instead of my chalks. No lets see what you can do!! Come on play along!!

Blessings,
Heidi

Halloween Sweet Centers for Stamping 411

Hello stampers!! I am so excited because my favorite BROWN BOX delivery man brought me a package yesterday and I got some new goodies to play with. I have been wanting to play along with the Stamping 411 gals for a while now and today is the day!!

Their sketch is :ssc111If you click on the sketch you can see what everyone else is doing for this sketch also.  Take a peak and go on over there. I am sure they will love your visit.

My take on this sketch immediately drew me to the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog’s SWEET CENTERS! I even have the cool little cups that fit in the middle of the set to play with but for now, I just made it simple.  Well at least I tried to.

009I just love how this turned out and hope that it inspires you. If you would like to know more about this set and don’t have a demonstrator, please email me and I will be happy to help you out.

018Recipe:

DCBD LAST Big Shot Challenge #138

Hello stampers:
I am running a little late today on posting. I had a somewhat bad night last night and hubby got called into work and I completely was bummin’ due to that. The poor man finally had one day of regular work and then got called back to work at 7pm and didn’t get home until midnight. Bless his heart he worked all last week 12 hr days + including the entire weekend. Ya, the money will be awesome but my honey means more and plus he was getting a little cranky and the entire family (kids especially) were having Daddy withdrawals. :(

Anyways, this is the sketch for this week. Use any current Stampin Up ONLY BIG SHOT supplies. From dies, to embossing texture plates to the dry embossing folders. You can make a card or a 3D project. Its free for all day!! When you are done, go to the Diva blog and post your picture on Mr Linkey.

DCBD Sketch Challenge # 137

Hello stampers:

Welcome to this weeks Diva Coffee Break Design Challenge and I hope that you are having a great week. This week has been bitter sweet for me. My girlfriend, Julie Semones and I went to Women Of Faith and when she came here, she brought along a little baby girl, Shih Tzu, for me that I had picked out from Michigan. The bitter part came when she took home my Sheltie, Ginger, to give her the forever home she deserves.  I love her for doing this for me so that I could still see Ginger. I will be breeding “Grace” when she is of age and that is one of the things I love to do, is share my baby girl with everyone else. So anyways, this weeks card, we did together and I love how my card turned out. It took a minute for me to figure out what I wanted to do but here it is.

DCBD137
Here is my version and take of this sketch.

Don’t you just love that Rich Razzleberry paper??? I totally love it. I find myself ALWAYS going for that color now so if you get sick of seeing it, just yell at me… :) Did you happen to see the butterflies? They are embossed and NOT with versamark. ?????? Ya thats what I was thinking when Julie showed me this awesome technique.

dcbd137
The butterflies are embossed with CLASSIC ink and clear embossing powder and the best part is,,, little tiny words like this sentiment can be read when embossed. Details pop like never before. I find that when you use Versamark on detail and little words that it never turns out right. Tomorrow I will show you the difference between the 2. So stay tuned.

Looking for something to do today? Why not stop on over to the DIVA BLOG and take a look at the other diva’s blogs and see if any of them inspire you to create with us. Once you complete your card, upload it to our blog w/ Mr Linkey.

Have a blessed day !!!
Heidi

LNS Challenge 22 – Embossing

This card was absolutely so fun to make that I think I might have gotten carried away with the embossing. You want embossing, you got it, both Dry and Heat… LOL And the aluminum embossing technique that I did was super cool once I finished it.

  • I started out with the Ballet Blue Background CS, layered it with Basic Gray and Brushed Silver.
  • The Brushed Silver is Dry embossed with the Small Dots from the SU Textures Backgrounds.
  • On top of that is 1″ strips of DSP from the Patterns 11 Hostess Pack in Basic Gray and layered with Ballet Blue. I added the newer Silver Brads to the ends and used dimensionals to attach.
  • The next step is my favorite. I used the SU Textured Backgrounds again on Brushed Silver and dry embossed it with the argyle pattern.
  • Then I took my veramark pad and rubbed it on the entire piece of paper.
  • I applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.
  • I then took the paper piercer and pierced all of the diamond edges to look like a tool box.
  • The Brushed Silver is layered with Basic Gray and Ballet Blue CS.
  • Then I took the sentiment from All Holidays, stamped it on Whisper White CS in Basic Gray.
  • I colored in the “D” with a Ballet Blue Marker and embossed the whole thing.
  • Layered again with Ballet Blue and Basic Gray CS and added the Silver Brads to the edges of the sentiment.
  • Dimensionals were used to attach.
  • I then punched the arrows out of Ballet Blue.
  • Clear embossed the edges of the large one and total embossed the smaller ones.
  • Added the sentiment from Three Little Words “I love You”
  • Attached all the arrows.

We gave it to my husband because he just found out yesterday that he has Strep throat and he is miserable and he loved it. He said its very shiny and manly. So my attempt at this challenge is completed. I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial on how I made this card.

Blessings
Heidi
